Further Information

All cottages are equipped with a digital television, DVD player, fridge/freezer, washing machine, electric heaters. Cooking is on an electric cooker and water is heated by electric immersion heater. Water is supplied from the private Estate water supply. Coal and/or wood for the fire are available for purchase.

Sheets, duvet covers, pillow cases and towels are not provided. All beds have duvets, blankets and pillows. Bed linen can be provided, by prior arrangement, at a charge of £10.00 per bed per letting. Cots are available at £10.00 per week.

*Fuel Costs
Electricity is metered and you are charged for your usage during your stay. The cost is calculated at the end of the stay and payable by cheque or cash. Average usage costs are approx. £20 per week per cottage. Coal and wood for the fire is available for purchase at a cost of £10/wood box and £11.50 per 25kg bag of coal.

 

Terms and Conditions

Deposit and Payment
A “Rental Deposit” of 50% of the total rental cost is required at the time of booking. The remaining balance (50% of total rental cost) is due not later than six weeks prior to the start date of your holiday along with £100 “Damages Deposit”.

The “damages deposit” is to cover for items of “Extraordinary Damage or Losses” arising to the house and its contents by reason of the letting; fair wear and tear excepted. You will be refunded the “Damages Deposit” at the end of your stay once the property has been checked.

Payments should be made either by Bank Transfer or Cheque. Cheques should be made payable to “Skipness Farms”.

Cancellation
In the event of cancellation, we will endeavour to re-let the accommodation, and if successful any money paid will be refunded. If we are unsuccessful in re-letting and the notice of cancellation is given less than thirteen weeks and more than six weeks prior to the start date of your holiday then the “rental deposit” shall be forfeited. If we are unsuccessful in re-letting and the notice given is less than six weeks prior to the start date of the holiday the total cost of the rental will be retained.

Period
Lettings are from 4pm on a Saturday to 10am on a subsequent Saturday, unless otherwise arranged. Shorter lets may be available out of summer months but weekly lettings are preferred.

Cleaning
A full end of stay cleaning service is not included in the rental price and cottages should be left clean and tidy. We reserve the right to charge an extra service fee if this is not found to be the case. All damage and losses will be charged for and taken from the “Damages Deposit”.

Dogs
We do permit dogs in some of our cottages; Port na Chro North, Port na Chro South, Middle Seaview, and Dairy Cottage. This is on the strict understanding that the owners do not allow them on furniture or beds and that they are kept downstairs and out of bedrooms. They must be kept under control at all times whilst outdoors as the sheep hills are unfenced. No more than two dogs per letting, except by prior arrangement.

Scottish Tourist Board
Middle Seaview and Dairy Cottage are furnished, for the number of people stated, to Scottish Tourist Board standards. Dairy Cottage is a 3 star property and Middle Seaview a 2 star property. Port Na Chro and the Coach House cottages are not members of the scheme. Middle Seaview is owned by Mr & Mrs Lewis and is offered for let on their behalf by the Estate.
